Our Story

KOA started in Calgary with a respiratory therapist who was tired of bad scrubs. After fourteen years of long shifts, Anisha knew exactly what was wrong with the uniforms she and her colleagues wore: uninspired, ill-fitting, short on coverage, and without a single pocket that could hold a phone securely. In 2020, she and her husband Dan decided to fix it themselves — scrubs made the way performance clothing gets made. Four-way stretch. A rise that stays put. Pockets where hands actually go. They named the brand for the people who would wear it. Health Heroes wasn't a marketing line — in 2020, it was simply true.

The first clinics chose KOA in 2021, and they have re-ordered every year since. Life got busy, and for a while the brand went quiet — the clinics kept ordering anyway. That told us everything we needed to know.
